Welcome to GardenWorks!
GardenWorks is a jointly run program of the Green Institute, Farm in the City and the Minnesota State Horticultural Society. During 2004 and 2005 the McKnight Foundation provided a grant to evaluate the community gardening needs and challenges within the Twin Cities Metro Area. The Community Garden Sustainability Plan was developed from this needs evaluation. The Sustainability Plan has given us a blueprint to address these needs and accomplish GardenWorks’ mission.
Our mission is to promote and to preserve
community gardening in the Twin Cities area by connecting gardeners to each other and to the communities in which they reside.

As GardenWorks develops, we will work with gardeners, private and public partners to:
- strengthen and broaden the network of gardeners
- facilitate communication within the community gardening
- assist the network in building the garden’s community
